Can't Start my BMW!!?

I have a 2000 BMW 323ci, just purchased it used so I don't know a whole lot about the car. Yesterday I was taking some pictures of the inside of the car and somehow managed to lock the steering column and the ignition. The alarm system didn't sound but I can't turn the key in the ignition at all. Does anyone have any idea how to disable this? I've tried almost everything I can think of.

Pull on the wheel in one or the other direction while turning the key.

try starting the car and move the wheel to the left and right
yes this happens alot to me when the car is off and you turn the weel it locks up on you so put the key in and try turning the key at the same time turning the weel in both directions from left to right. good luck

Car question involving a BMW Fan Shroud and an AC Compressor clutch?

For you car experts, I am wondering if anybody can explain this to me. I got my car checked out, and among its "numerous oil leaks" (how bad is that on a 1-10 scale? no oil makes it to the ground) my cars (2001 BMW 330i) Fan Shroud has come loose at the bottom and the AC Compressor Clutch has been "wearing a hole in shroud". I googled both parts, looked at the car physically, and I don't see how that part can ware a hole in the shroud. Is this a huge problem? Would the mechanic have told me if this was a huge problem after diagnosing it?

If the fan shroud is not secured and its proximity to the compressor is within several inches, then yes it is possible for the shroud to move around and possibly chafe at the pulley. If you can, grab the shroud at the bottom and see how much movement there is.

I am sure they didn't lie to you about the oil leak. It doesn't make it to the ground in your driveway but I am sure it does when you drive it. Ask them to show you the leaks, so for me to give you a 1-10 without seeing it is impossible. I have never heard of an ac clutch hitting a fan shroud. If indeed that is true, your fan shroud is not secure or your motor mounts are wasted. I would take it to a national chain that does free inspections and see what they come up with, ask for an ase master certified technician to inspect it, shop cost will be free for the inspection and just kick the tech 20 for his time, then you will know for sure.

Should be of help.... There are alot of places around that hold useful info. If you plan on doing any work on your car personally, get a "Bentley" Manual it has most all information in general you would ever need, but not sure of the specifics in wiring. it's a bit misleading as most cars have on board computers and quite a few trip computers

it's basically info you can call up using a multifunction button (usually on the end of the wiper stalk) where it will tell you how many miles you have travelled since a reset, how many mpg you are getting, how many miles you have left in the tank etc etc...

The Stealthbox is not available for pre 1999 BMW 3 series.

edit: I guess anything is possible, but these are designed to fit perfectly with a factory appearance, so major modifications would be required. They won't even fit in my 02 M3 because I have the CD changer so I would have to modify the bracket for that and the left side liner. The rear speakers come out and these replace them, so with an E36 having a completely different shape, I don't know where they would line up.

I would call a dealer.
If you really want to keep your warranty. Check with your dealer to get euro-spec head lights (they have the clear reflector you are seeking) As to the rims. That should not be a problem since 19's are an option. Just remember the tire will end up with a lower profile which can affect ride comfort

No, unless something goes wrong with your clear reflectors, or rims, then obviously BMW won't warranty those items.
