I have a 99 BMW 528i.... My transmission was diagnosed with bad torque converter. Dealer says it will be in the $3,000 range to rebuild it.... Is it realistic or am I being ripped off?

Torque converter is around $1125.00 (oem part # 24401423361) Labor for R %26 R transmission is 5.4 hours. Even if you over estimate the job you should be looking at $2000.00 tops. Question, is your estimate from the dealer for rebuilding the whole trans. or just replacing the converter? If it's just for the converter then that's a HIGH price!
