I have owned 4 BMW's one of them was a 1993 325is it had well over 200,000 miles on it when I sold it. Other than normal wear parts, it was a very reliable car. I traded up for a 1997 528i that is the only reason I sold it.

This engine is the older M50 engine which is better than the newer M52 block (which had nikasil cylinder liners and can be troublesome- older M50 had steel ones). E36 is a very good car- keep it serviced and it should last a long time.

The high mileage suggests there should be few problems as the owner obviously uses it a lot and depends on it, so it will have been looked after well.

Just check out all the old car problems... test all the electrics, suspension bounce, engine runs fine (no strange noises) etc.

Here in England Hondas are known as old men's cars as they never break down..... BMWs are just as good and have much more street cred.
If you buy that car, you will be its last owner.
