What to expect when purchasing a BMW good and bad, (high maintainance?)?

Im possibly going to get a bmw in the near future but don't know much about them, does anyone know of any website to check out. Also if I decide against a BMW what is another vehicle I can get and still achieve that "BAD WOMAN" swaggar.

BMW cars are great cars. Most people don't know how to work on cars, but BMW happens to be one of the easies to work on. Plus everything in BMW is afermarket. BMW only makes engine, and assemble cars. All other parts, you can picked up directly from the vendor. So market is flooded with cheap BMW parts.

BMW engine uses non-standard oil filter so you will have to go to dealer to change oil, and must use a computer to reset the oil light. You would think it is expensive, but the computer is smarter than typical milage counter. It measures the driving condition, temperature, driving style, ... So you may end up change oil as early as 1000 miles, or long as 10,000 miles. In most cases, 6 - 7000 miles. In most cases, you would end up saving money in long run. (Honda recently started using the same technology)

Expensive to maintain, but if you have the dealer maintain it for you, it the engine will last up to 400K. If you pay twice much to maintain, and the car lasts twice as long compare to other cars, then the cost of the ownership isn't that expensive.
