To all the BMW owners.......?

I want my husband to buy me a BMW for my fifth birthday instead of going on a cruise, the money for that I can use for a down payment. My question is what are the down fall in owning one, such as upkeep I don't need a 85k. I'm thinking between 3 to a 5 series. Even if it's two to three yrs old.

get a new or a used that still has warranty.otherwise if you have to pay for repairs you`ll need a 3rd mortgage.

A 5 series will have somewhat less problems down the road compared to a 3 series of the same year/age/mileage. Simply because being a bigger car, it is less likely to be driven hard/trashed around by it's previous owner. The 5 of course is also a more luxurious and comfortable car compared to the 3.

If you're looking for just a 2-3 yr old car, it would likely still have some remainder of the factory 4yr/50,000 mile maintenance warranty left.

If possible, buy an extended warranty to give you additional coverage beyond the factory warranty, especially if you are getting the 3 series.
By a 3 series! The quality is better in the 3 series and it's more fun to drive because of the size difference. If you decide to go used get a BMW with a CPO from a reputable BMW dealership. You may pay more upfront but in the long haul you will be greatful.
3 Series, z3 or z4 roadster or the convertible.
Wow a bmw for being 5 years old , nice . No real down sides if it is fairly new , they usually have warranties and some have maintanence program which you get all oil changes ,brakes etc covered . If it is outside of warranty than they can get expensive , considering parts are usually more and labor is more .
