I have a 2006 BMW 325ci convertible with a DVD GPS, is there a way to hack the GPS so I can play DVD

The DVD GPS is not aftermarket and it is a BMW factory installed GPS. Although it would be nice to play DVD movies, I am not willing to sacrifice the navigation just to be able to play DVDs. I am pretty advanced with tech however, the easier solution the better.

The DVD GPS computer in your trunk is also known as the MK4 Navigation computer. Unfortunately, it was never designed to play DVD movies so it lacks the audio/video decoders required to play a DVD format movie. There is no easy "hack" to make it happen.

However, if what you want is the ability to play DVD movies on the same screen as your navigation, there are factory options and aftermarket options to enable that capability.

The factory option is to get the BMW TV Tuner module. Other than providing a TV tuner so that you can watch broadcast TV, it has inputs for an external video/audio device. This way, you can install a DVD player in your cabin that hooks into the TV module which in turn, can display on your navigation screen. Once installed, "television" becomes an additional option on your screen which you can select when you want to watch TV or a DVD movie through your external DVD player.

There are several aftermarket options that behave similarly to the factory option, but also provide their own unique advantages over the factory options. You can find more info on such at the following websites:

Hope that provides the information that you need.

I doubt it.

You could probably add a DVD drive and hook it up to the screen though.
