1-yr old Used BMW purchased in US. Will existing manufacturer warranty be applied in Canada?

Hi,

If I buy a used BMW in the states that still has the manufacturer warranty:

1. Can I exercise the warranty in Canada?

2. or do I have to go back to the states for warranty fixes?

3. or do I have to go back to that exact dealership?

Tony,

B4 buying the car,u please visit your BMW dealer in canada and ask for their opionion of u buying from the car from the States.

.Basically BMW covers worldwide if the car is under warranty.

Therefore u visit your dealers and once they agree,u can buy the car.At the same time u must inform the dealers in the buying state to mention in their service report online, that this car been sold to canadian and all future services and warranty be provided and exercised in canada.

Please get your car,s service records updated on the service book and stamped by the selling state dealer.

This wll definately save you from future complications.

Wishing you the best.

1. Pretty sure yes

2. Doubtful. Canada is under the BMW North America umbrella which of course includes the US.

3. Defiantly not. You can take it to any dealership for service. Warranty work is not paid for by the dealer itself. BMW NA pays for it.

If you are buying a used car from the BMW dealer, make sure it comes with CPO. Its like an extension on your warranty.

I hear in Canada they even cover subframe damage outside of warranty.
I honestly dont know. I would contact bmw and get their answer straight from them before making such a big , expensive decision. not something you want to mess around with you know?
