What does it do or mean if on carsales.com.au it says these BMW's have on board computers or trip computers??

it's a bit misleading as most cars have on board computers and quite a few trip computers
it's basically info you can call up using a multifunction button (usually on the end of the wiper stalk) where it will tell you how many miles you have travelled since a reset, how many mpg you are getting, how many miles you have left in the tank etc etc...

trip computer is just a computer that logs the miles that you have traveled.
