Got a 316 coupe bmw out last nite and it overheat and now the heating doesnt work now, anyone have any ideas?

if your heater is not working, it means you may have air pockets in your cooling system, since air doesn't conduct heat well.

you don't mention why your engine overheated... did you lose coolant? did the water pump fail? the thermostat failed closed somehow?

if your coolant was low to begin with, then there was air in your cooling system, which may be why your engine overheated and also why your heater doesn't work.

if your coolant level was correct, but now it is lower after the overheat, then you could have a head gasket leak or warped head. this allows the pistons to pump air into the cooling system, which causes an overheat and your heater to blow cold.

those are just some possibilities. best to have a diagnostic run by examining the cooling system and possibly a leak down test of the cylinders.

If it overheated you should check the expansion tank (the place where water goes), if it's empty this could be the cause of the overheating and the heater subsequently not working. (The heater relies on having water in the expansion tank). Do not start the car until you have checked this, or you risk blowing the head gasket which will bend the rods and pistons and mess up your engine.
Look like it used up all the heat last night..

head gasket? look for orange or dirty water - if you have any that is.

heating wont work if no water in radiator.
