What are the disadvantages of buying a BMW?

I've found a GREAT deal for used 98' BMW 528i - the car is in excellent condition (I've had my mechanic check out, we've taken it for a test drive and all that). I can afford to buy the car in full but what are some of the SEEN and UNFORESEEN disadvantages/COSTS owning a used BMW like this?

First it depends on the price. Second, this car is closing on the 200,000 miles. Depreciation isn't an issue here because this is 10 years old and I don't think it will depreciate much more like a newer 5 or 7 series BMW would. Those don't hold their values like the 3 series (smallest BMWs). Another thing you need to look at is the cost of maintaining this car. BMWs aren't the cheapest to maintain, and aren't the easiest to work on. Their parts are crazy expensive as you might know. So, do you really have to drive a BM ? Especially an older one that's more likely to start having problems. Check car ratings available in different magazines or Consumer Report magazine. These ones don't have the best ratings. I think you're much better off with a Honda or a Volvo if you want something heavier.
